U8 / U9 Program (2018–2017)

Players in the U8 and U9 age groups train twice per week, with two 60-minute sessions each week. We aim to maintain an 8:1 participant-to-coach ratio to ensure quality instruction and individual support.

Season Details

  • Duration: 8 weeks

  • Start: Monday, May 4

  • End: Monday, June 29

  • No session: Monday, May 18

This program includes a mix of skill-based training sessions and scrimmages.

Scrimmage Philosophy

Scrimmages are designed as a learning experience rather than a competitive setting. They provide players with the opportunity to apply newly developed skills in a game-like environment.

Key points to note:

  • Players will be encouraged to try a variety of positions, including goalkeeper.

  • Scrimmages will be officiated by young club referees who have completed a short refereeing course. For many, this will be their first refereeing experience. Coaches, players, and spectators are expected to support and respect these developing officials.

  • There is no offside rule at the U8/U9 level. Referees will take time to explain fouls and decisions to help players better understand the rules of the game.

  • Players may kick the ball into play instead of using a throw-in if they choose.

  • There are no league standings for this age group.
