The Canmore Minor Soccer Club ShirtShare program is an effort to distribute no-longer-needed jerseys to young soccer players from less fortunate communities. We accept any clean (washed) soccer club jerseys, including sponsored house league jerseys and any of our club red jerseys.
Jersey(s) can be dropped during our weekend playoff BBQ. Last season we collected more than a hundred jerseys, which were distributed to communities in Guatemala, in conjunction with Canmore's Hearts & Hands Foundation (www.heartshands.ca).
Our jerseys and used soccer balls have also been distributed to needy children in Belize, Costa Rica, and India. If you are travelling to a developing nation and would like to donate some of our used equipment, please contact Donna Scott.
With soccer being one of the most played games in the world – from small villages in Africa to large cities in North America – there will be no shortage of possible destinations. If you have a suggestion in this regard or a contact for a suitable destination, drop us an e-mail and we'll look into it.
Help make another child happy. Donate your old jerseys to the ShirtShare project!

Canmore Makes An Impact In India
The youth pictured above are in the isolated village of Basoli in the Himalayan foothills of northern India. They are wearing soccer shirts donated through the ShirtShare project. Lee and Anne deSoto took 24 jerseys to distribute while travelling with Luxtrek Tours, under the leadership of Faith and Anthony Harckham from Canmore, to donate and install lanterns in several villages in this remote area of the world.
Last season we conducted our first-ever Food drive to help out the Bow Valley Food Bank. Donations of non-perishable items were collected at our season-end BBQ, where we raised almost 1,000 pounds of food! Many thanks to the players and their families who donated ot this worthy cause. Food Drives will take place at future year-end BBQs as well.
If you would like more information about our support of the Food Bank, please contact Caroline Murphy.
I just wanted to let you know that the soccer balls and jerseys were SO gratefully received by the school we visited in Honduras. The school is attended by kids that live in corrugated steel houses with cardboard windows, and the teacher was trying to raise money to buy them school supplies and soccer balls. Now, she can use the money she raises (if any) for other things. Big smiles all around. A very good cause, indeed! Thanks for the support.

I must say, of all the sports clubs I have been involved with over the years, Canmore Soccer is the most organized and well put together one of them all. Congrats to you and all who involved to make this such a huge success.

Just coming into the program for the first time, I have only received open arms and great warmth ... I owe you a great glass of Chardonnay.

You guys have organized a great soccer organization, much better than Edmonton's I think. The emphasis on fun and participation put me at ease with being a coach, not knowing much about soccer.

Coming from Toronto where we had endless minor sports leagues, I am impressed by both the excellent administration or your league as well as the high level of soccer skill ethic and of course responsibility to fair (play), fun and moral respect for the kids participating.
